Hello fellow members. The admin and mod crew have been at work trying to spruce up the chat a bit. We looked at several options, but in the end we were going to probably switch networks anyway. We decided to use Mibbit Chat once again, and find a network that would allow that.

Bob-omb fit the bill. Not only does it allow for mibbit (which freenode had banned) it also allowed our mods to take a more active role in keeping the chat within the rules.

Mibbit was a great little program that lets great and has some nice features. I won't go into details into how many and what the features are, but lets say it is a noted improvement in the look and feel on the embedded chat. You will need to register your nicks again, but that is simple and most nicks should not be taken as this is a small network.

To register your nick you need to be on the nick you want to register (if you care to -- some people will find it nice to keep their nick from being stolen) then type

/nickserv register [pass] [email]

where [pass] and [email] are your choosing. It will send you an email to verify your new account.

We will be moving to the new chat on either Monday or Tuesday. It will replace the current webchat on the hotpage. It will be able to be used in a popup window or a newtab/window as well.

If you can't log on through Mibbit Chat please use this backup chat until things are sorted out. There is also a link on the left side of the page under "Entertainment News". Sorry for the inconvenience.

For the time being i will switch the hotpage chat to the backup chat.

Just as a heads up, only registered users can see the chats on the site. So, be sure to log in before looking for the chat on the main page. It won't be there otherwise. Or just use pidgin and you are good to go without logging in. So, anybody that comes to the chat but hasn't registered yet should do so.

What a moronic system, what's this, what happened to the "open" site, it's open but more closed than a prison, so if I happen to log in quickly from, say, my uni and i don't put my pass I'll get my IP permabanned until an admin decides to unban me.

That's so nice of the site, I guess I won't be joining the chat anytime soon if y'all want to implement such idiotic measures that are only there to disturb. It really used to be a better chat when there wasn't a nasty regime around to mantain it
