Re: Night Societe Anime Alliance.
?
I'm not giving up on my point.
Just saying I understand that some members are really set on watching EVA and that I understand it's a bit late to scrap everything and start the voting proces all over again.
And, yeah, I agree some shows are just better watched alone.
And since some of us are more aware, hopefully after EVA we'll watch the fun shows.
I nominate "Fumoffu", Watched dubbed like Tyler!
It will only take us 2 weeks to finish, but it'll be a blast.

You ungrateful ass! How dare you do this to me after I give you Saber pr0n?!
- Spoiler:
- Seriously though, Fumoffo's dub is great quality.
They fit and bring life to the characters well and they also carry the character's energy well
Plus listening is better than listening/reading subs at the same time.
'Tis one less thing we have to concentrate on.

Talk only for yourself, certainly not for me. I'm not native, so it's easier to me to read english than it is to listen to it.
Besides, I've been reading subs since I learned to read, anyways. I'm so accustomed to them that's not a bother to me in any sense

I didn't mean it in an overall sense.
I meant it in "Open chat, typing, reading chat, watching anime, listening, reading subs" way.
Certainly if we could lower the multitasking a bit, we can concentrate more on the other things.
Also, I'm not native aswell.. If nothing else, think of it as practice to improve listening to english.
I'm assuming since we can carry a conversation in english you're skilled enough to listen to english speakers. Improving on your weaknessess so to say. =P

Yes, but you live in the US, you hear english all the time, unlike me. Besides what I hear in TV, Internet and games, my contact with spoken english is zero. I don't mean to say I couldn't do it, but I'd miss some words. And I don't want that to happen. FSN was difficult enough to understand now, imagine if I missed some of the words spoken...
I just feel more confident with subs

Although you do have a point, it's not like I instantly got good at it, I had to start somewhere.zexen wrote:

Anyway, this is a situation where we can easily compromise.
Considering Fumoffu doesn't use much, or at all, complicated metaphors and symbolisms to explain philosophies and the like and just sticks with good ol' action and awkward comedy, you probaby won't have any trouble deciphering the content of the show. But if it bothers you that much you can always stick to subs as the rest sticks to dubs. I do ask that you try out the dubs first for 2 eps though. 2 because 1 would be too short and you might not be used to it yet. 2 is the sweet spot which gives you ample time to be comfortable and see how it goes. If it truly bothers you still, then by all means change to subs and enjoy the show.
C'mon Zex, if you're worried about the quality don't. Trust me on this, I wouldn't be so adamant about it if the quality was sub-par. This goes to you to SciFi.
