Banjo, Tomb raider, Mirror's Edge Demos
Tomb Raider: Underworld
For me this game has gone up to must buy status if for nothing else then the fact they use Ankor Watt ruins which look vastly superior to the version I made though far less acurate.
Anyways the game play is fun and the location they showed was BEAUTIFUL. All that said the camera SUCKS. I was actually feeling a little sick after playing for an hour. The camera only actually goes wacky once or twice on its own. The rest is the users doing, or a combination of the user and the fact that the camera moves so damn quick. If they would have just implemented a slow in and slow out on the camera everything would be fine but as is you touch the camera control and it slams it one way so fast that adjustments in closed areas because of walls become very jarring.
But outside the camera I had a blast palaying it and did not want to stop.
Mirror's Edge
This game is exactly like that european jumping movie, whatever it was called, pointless. Seriously running accross roof tops will never, NEVER under any circumstances be the best way to deliver secret messages/packages.
However the gameplay was incredably fun, I couldn't see paying more then $20 for it but I could defenitly see playing this for hours on end. Its almost like ssx tricky the roof top running version. Now that I think about it maybe I would pay more then $20 I guess if there wheren't as many other games I wanted.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
OK I am conviced that while making this game they followed 2 principle (that they made up of-course)
1 - Falling is fun
2 - Everybody loves ice level because you skid.
Seriously this is why platforming with a character is better, because outside the ice levels you don't slide at every turn, or constiently fall because you can't stop or turn fast enough.
So I thought they said this game wasn't going to be like a racing banjo. Hmm thats odd how come I've already done 3 races out of 5 task. And why is Banjo the size of a basket ball realitive to the rest of the world. Gee RARE maybe thats why your worlds are so big, use the F***ing scale tool. Seriouly how can Tomb Raider world seem so big yet I can walk around quickly oh I know because lara croft isn't 1/8 the size she should be. Wasn't that the whole excusive for the vehicles.
Also another reason why vehicles suck because when fighting bad guys off I can't just turn. You must drive in a circle, oh look I just lost a wheel lets pull that back on. Man it sure is fun when your essential character (the vehicle) keeps dropping parts when you hit things so on top of doing your task you need to constantly rebuild your car.
There are some things that seem cool like building the car but that would make a robot wars game better not this game. Platforming =/= building things. I have played the demo 3 time now looking desperatly for a reason to love it but I can barely find a reason to like it. It has some good moments when you forget about the fact your in a vehicle but the rest is glaryingly obvious and unwelcome. This has moved down from must buy for me.
