Does anyone else find this creepy?
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/105/1059102p1.html
This article is on the front page of IGN, which is increasingly becoming a blog rather then a news outlet.
Some fun quotes from the article.
"Why does IGN editor Greg Miller celebrate the PlayStation 2's birthday every year, complete with cake and ice cream? It's because games talk to us, even if we sometimes can't understand what they're saying."
"It had reached into my subconscious (past all the stuff about cheerleaders) and found my anger, passion and nostalgia. In the end, I suppose I finally bought a PS3 out of protest, hope and a bit of blind faith. "
On why he purchased a console
"And more importantly, I'll feel cool while I do it."
I know we all experience emotions about trivial objects, I would assume for most its about what they represent over what they are. But this I found to be rather creepy, its like he is talking about two girlfriends and breaking up with one to date the other.
2 things
1 - I wish I got paid 40k a year to write articles for IGN.
2 - I know we all have bad moments but some people need to go through a technology withdraw and be sent to Ethiopia for a little while so they can gain some perspective on materialism.
So did anyone else find this article creepy? To me it read like a novel, along the lines of "Then I realized that all this time it wasn't Kelly that I loved. She was just my response to the hurt and anger Clarie caused me. When I saw Final Fantasy I knew that I still loved Clarie, she was the women I was meant to be with. It was destiny."
Thoughts?

Creepier than your unabomber rants about slowly becomming a technophobe who is out of touch with todays world... no... but still a little creepy...
but its the beginning of the year which is alwas slow in gaming news and there is always that one journalist who thinks he´s oh so spechial and clever because he has a fresh perspective on things... mix that with the usual complexes about having failed at real jurnalism and you have this sort of article...
