Pokemon Platinum Preview

Selling over fifteen million worldwide, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl is a commercial success. The battles with random Pokemon and trainers with collecting all the Pokemon you need to help you defeat other Pokemon along with new features like Nintendo Wi-fi to some old features that returned like the night / day feature. With every generation selling a spin-off to the main series, this one continues to live its legacy with Pokemon Platinum. In this preview, you will see how Pokemon Platinum lives up to the other spin offs and maybe even Diamond and Pearl itself.



Now, basically all that Pokemon Platinum is, is Diamond and Pearl with new features added to make it feel like a fresh new redesigned game. Things has been slightly changed from the main games such as the outfits that the characters wear, to a few gyms with a different indoors than the main games, to parts of the storyline that’s also been altered. But all that good Pokemon stuff is still in there waiting for you to go in and just catch and explore new lands.

If you haven’t played Diamond and Pearl, here’s a quick rundown. As in the main series, you’re greeted by Professor Rowan in your hometown and you get your starter Pokemon as well. You’re assigned either a Piplup, a water type Pokemon that has super ability with water. Chimchar, a fire type Pokemon that’s strong with its fire attacks, or Turtwig, a grass type Pokemon that can do impressive moves with its grass moves. After that ordeal you have chosen a rival that will come back to want to battle you to a Pokemon battle, it’s mandatory to beat him and mandatory to beat all the gym leaders that hide in the cities and town that you encounter on your journey. Soon, it’s time to beat the champion of Sinnoh, the Pokemon region, and then it will be you that will have the crown to Sinnoh.

Now, in Diamond and Pearl, that’s where most of the plot of the game ends. Well in Platinum, the game continues still after you’ve beaten the champion. You now have a mission to beat all 5 battle places at the Battle Frontier, an extra added place for more battling with the masters. Which can keep you even more entertained in the game, the battle frontier is strict , like it only allowed a certain level Pokemon and legendary ones aren’t allowed in to help you. But still nonetheless, it’s still the Pokemon that we know and love.

Not only this version has the Battle Frontier that makes it worth the purchase, but it also has new Pokemon to capture than D/P. Over 210 Pokemon are catch able in this game to help you on your way. Also some changes has been made to the map for the better. For example, there’s a Distortion World in it for you to travel for you to catch the Pokemon on the front cover Giratina. The Distortion World has been added with a neat feature to it on how you walk. In this world, you walk like a Super Mario Galaxy- esque world. You can walk upside down or side by side with puzzles to solve to a being stuck in a maze-like world. Giratina is at the end of this fascinating world, so be sure to get Giratina as you get this game and travel in this spooky world.

Lots of battle style has also been changed to be unique. Some attacks such as Razor leaf has been redesigned to look like a different animation. So be sure to look for that and lots of other stuff that this game has changed and yet still make it sound the same as your traditional Pokemon game.

If you’re hungry for Pokemon then you might want to consider this game, it won’t be till a few more years till the next generation of Pokemon games to come, and if you haven’t played Pokemon Diamond and Pearl or you have it and just want an added content for longer lasting gameplay, then consider getting this game. Expect it March 22!
