The "sie" is pretty important... in english there is only "you", so if you ask a bum or the queen something you address both with "you", in German there is the casual "du" for friends and family and the formal "sie"... this is one of the many things that confuse English speakers who learn German... although the fact that in English everything is "the" while in German we have "der" (masculine) "die" (feminine) and "das" (neutral) is hardest to learn since there is little no way to know whats what other than remembering for every word... why should the sun be feminine and the moon masculine ???
